Did you know, hair extensions are not just great to add length, but also they can add colour and thickness to your hair. This makes them perfect for clients who want to try a few pops of vibrant colour or balayage, without the commitment, but also anyone struggling with growth or finer hair.
First, we need to discuss the differences between real human hair extensions and synthetic hair extensions:
Real human hair extensions are exactly that, donated from another human’s luscious locks. They’re made into hair extensions for someone else to enjoy. Synthetic hair extensions however, are made largely from a blend of different minute fibres and imitate natural human hair, but never including real hair.
Styling and colour:
Real human hair extensions have the benefit of being able to be treated largely the same as your own hair. You can colour, blow dry and straighten it the way you would like. Synthetic hair extensions however, cannot be used this way without damaging or melting the materials. You also need to be careful with harsh styling products, regular friction and even the sun to avoid damaging these extensions.
Appearance and feel:
Real human hair will look and feel a lot more convincing because it is real hair! Those extensions will blend with your own locks much better and remain silky for as long as you keep them. Synthetic extensions can often look and feel a little coarse in comparison, whilst also being a little more stiff and rigid, making them blend less effectively with your own hair.
Accessibility and durability:
Whilst less expensive, synthetic hair extensions will often feel of a less quality and will not last as long before needing to be replaced. They can generally be worn for a few months. Real human hair extensions however, can be worn for up to a year, but are also notably more expensive. So, the choice of which to use could be up to the timeframes, pricing, and whichever is made easiest for you.
So, which is best for you?
If you are on a budget, don’t tend to style your hair as harshly or don’t want to commit to having extensions for as long as a year then synthetic extensions could be the way to go!
Whereas, if you don’t mind the higher price or you want the higher quality, you wish to colour your hair or you use heat on your hair a lot, and want your extensions to last as long as they can – then real human hair extensions are the ones to go for!
